iPhone firmware 4.0

April 16th, 2010 Posted in Apple, iPhone

Some people are disappointed with the new iPhones OS 4.0 and expected a lot more, but I really think that the new features are already awesome enough. Okay some other smartphones already have multitasking quite a while, but if you just check out the movies of it then you can see how incredibly fast this actually is on the iPhone.

The second big improvement is the ability to create folders, I was already able to do this on my jailbroken iPhone with Categories but it just wasn’t smooth enough. It really took a while before the folder opened and adding/removing applications from/to the folder was a real pain in the ***.

Another small change that I like is the option in settings to show the character count while typing an sms. When I’m in my country it’s not really something needed since I text free, but when on vacation it would be kinda stupid to spill 20 cents because of 1 character too much…

Something I missed on the other hand and a reason for me to still jailbreak is statusbar notifications, it’s such a simple thing but I really want to be able to see if I have an unread message and whether my volume is turned off or not! I want to be able to see this on my homescreen instead of having to go to Settings to check it there because in the dark you cannot see the the orange circle!!
